4 Reivers Named ICCAC Player of the Week

Four Iowa Western Reivers were named as ICCAC Conference Players of the Week for their performances.  Three sophomores and a freshman were recipients of the awards in a 5-1 week for the Reivers' fall team sports.

In Volleyball's lone match of the week, sophomore Kortlyn Henderson was solid against Ellsworth. She and her teammates handled the Panthers in straight sets with Henderson leading all scorers with 16 kills on 25 attempts, a .480 hitting percentage.  Henderson also added three digs and is currently fourth in all of NJCAA Division 1 with 4.38 kills per set.  The Reivers are 6-2 and head to Colorado this weekend where they'll participate in the Northeastern JC Invite in Sterling, Colorado.

Men's soccer again dominated action at the Reiver Sports Complex as Head Coach Mike Brown's inaugural year has seen the Reivers start red hot at 6-0.  In back to back wins over #14 Laramie County and Northeastern, sophomore midfielder Theo Le Calve scored three goals and assisted on a pair of others for an eight-point weekend.  Currently, the sophomore from Caen, France is tied for second in goals in the ICCAC this season with five, and tied for first in assists with six.  Le Calve and his teammates have the week off before beginning conference play next Wednesday (9/18) at Iowa Central.

The Women's team also dominated weekend play after a 1-3 start.  The Reivers earned two wins in Jackson, Michigan, outscoring Jackson 3-0 and #10 Monroe C.C. 8-1.  Sophomore Paola Ochoa scored three goals in the two matches, with a goal and an assist versus Jackson and two more goals against Monroe.  The win over Monroe was the largest goal differential (7) against a ranked opponent in program history.

Freshman Goalkeeper Judit Gonzalez was sound in goal as well in the wins, shutting out Jackson 3-0, before allowing one goal in 75 minutes against the Tribunes.  Gonzalez made eight saves in all last week and has 30 saves total on the season. The Reivers have some time off and won't play a competitive match until next week when they also open conference play against Iowa Central.
