Reivers Split Team and Do Well At Both Meets

The Reivers took18 athletes to the Holiday Inn Invitational hosted by the University of Nebraska.  The rest of the IWCC team took the trip to the University of Iowa and competed at the Iowa Indoor Opener.  The Reivers competed well at both meets.  The Reivers were lead by top performances in the throws events at Iowa.  Local standout Chelsea Colpitts qualified for nationals in the shot with a mark of 12.15 meters. Kylee Eggers just missed qualifying standard in the weight throw 13.48 meters. Lacey Wright, who also is a local Abraham Lincoln graduate, set the school record in the 300 meters at 44.39.  The Holiday Inn Invitational at the Devaney Center also proved to be a great meet for the Reivers, as evidenced by the following impressive performances:

Troy Jones qualified in the 1000 meters (2:35.96); Jamel Woods qualified in the 200 meters,(22.08) which was also the school record; Isaiah Samoei ran free in the 5000 meters (14:51.37), Men's DMR which was good enough for the school record (10:16.40); Kashef Daniel qualified for nationals and set school record 6'10".25 in the high jump; and  Shennae Steele bettered the qualifying mark to 7.85 in 60 meter dash and qualified for the 200 meters with 25.14.

All in all the Reivers are very excited about how the season has started out.  The Reivers are also extremely optimistic about how the freshman members of their team are progressing and the contributions they are offering to the team, said Coach Emmett Statzer. The Reivers will compete in the Nebraska Weslyan meet hosted at the Devaney Center in Lincoln, Nebraska on January 21, 2011 with a start time of 2:00 PM.
