Ten School Records and Seven National Qualifiers Including Local Standouts

Abraham Lincoln graduate Lacey Wright and Thomas Jefferson graduate Kyle Blue were among many who will be leading the Reivers to the NJCAA National Championships this March. Wright ran a fantastic third leg in the women's 4x400-meter relay along with Nicholia Edwards, Edna Johnson, and Shennae Steele. This women's relay is now leading the IWCC record books with a time of 4:00.15, beating the old record by 6 seconds.

Edwards and Steele did not believe that one record was enough for the two of them and decided to etch their names once again in the IWCC records in individual races. Steele broke her own 200-meter record with a time of 24.95 and a second place finish. Edwards grabbed second in the 600 meters with a record 1:39.42 witch is good enough to place her on the national team.

Blue added his name to the national team roster with his strong run in the 5000 meters, hitting a 15:32.43 and grabbing third place. In the mile run, Isaiah Samoei broke his own record and will be competing in another event at nationals after running a 4:22.44. Jamel Wood and Catrell Butler also beat their own records in the 400 meters and the 60-meter hurdles. Wood ran a 48.69 and Butler ran 8.28. Troy Jones qualified for nationals in the 600 meters as well as setting the IWCC record with a 1:20.75, stealing the first place finish for the meet. Banjo Jaiyesimi added another record to his name with a 1:56.27 in the 800 meters.

In the field events, Cairan Donnelly earned a trip to nationals in the weight throw with a 15.68 meter toss (51'5.25). Nathan Frakes and Jake Kunkle added their name to the IWCC record books with a shot put of 14.03 meters (46'0.25) and a pole vault 4.10 meters (13'5).
