IWCC Field Events Rocked the Record Books
The Reivers visited Cornell College for the Hilltop Invitational this Saturday, and the field events ruled the air.
Local Abraham Lincoln Grad, Chelsea Colpitts continued to show her dominance in both the shot put and the weight throw this weekend. In the shot Colpitts bettered her national qualifying mark, moving it to 12.35m, enough to earn a fourth place in the meet. In the weight throw she showed great versatility tossing a 14.11m, gaining her an IWCC record and another event to add to her national list. Denise Dawson baffled the competition in the long jump when she moved from fourth to first place in the meet with an IWCC record and national qualifying mark of 5.45m. Staying with the jumps, Molly Lebeda leaped 10.24m in the triple jump to add her name to the IWCC record books.
For the men, Ciaran Donnelly continues to turn heads when he betters his own IWCC record in the weight throw (16.02m). Banjo Jaiyesimi and Troy Jones both earned second place finishes at the meet, and both bettered there national marks. Jaiyesimi ran a 50.06 400m, and Jones ran a 1:55.77 800m which grabs him an IWCC record as well.
