Pitching has strong performances, but Reivers drop first two of series
HUTCHINSON, Kansas- Game 1 was a pitcher's duel between sophomore left-hander Taylor Eikenberry (6.0 IP, 5 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K) of Iowa Western and Hutchinson right-hander Devon Brogan (9.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 4 K). The game would be scoreless after 9.5 innings, before the Blue Dragons would scratch the game-winning run across to beat the Reivers 1-0.
Freshman left-handed pitcher Andy Roberts (3.1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 3 K) would relieve Eikenberry and suffer the late-inning loss. Left fielder Ryan Mayfield would lead the bottom of the tenth inning off with a double for the home team and score on a one-out single by Emerson Savage.
Freshman third baseman Damek Tomscha, sophomore right fielder Adam Lavelle, and sophomore center fielder Mitch Warne would each record a hit for the visiting Reivers.

Game 2 also had outstanding pitching from both teams. Iowa Western started freshman right-hander Jake Thompson (7.1 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 8 K) and Hutchinson started Creighton commit Andrew Urban (8.0 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K). Ethan Vinson would hit a one-out triple in the bottom of the eighth inning and score the game-winning run on a wild pitch by Thompson.
Sophomore left fielder Tanner Moore led the offensive attack for the Reivers, going 2-for-3, hitting a double and scoring. Freshmen Tony Schicktanz, Josh Velasquez, and David Bruchu all had hits and sophomore right fielder Adam Lavelle had the lone RBI for Iowa Western.
