Meyer, Moore, and Eikenberry earn All-District honors

Sophomores Tanner Moore and Taylor Eikenberry, along with freshman Levi Meyer were named to the All-District team for the 2011 season.  The three look to continue to contribute to the end of the season as they prepare for Grand Junction, Colorado and the Junior College World Series.

Tanner Moore is a sophomore leftfielder from Omaha, Nebraska.  Throughout the season, Moore has consistently been in the middle of the Iowa Western lineup, mostly in the 3-hole and is among the leaders in multiple categories.  He has played in 54 games and is hitting .370 in 192 at bats (2nd on the team), scoring 50 times (2nd on the team), with 10 doubles (tied for 2nd on the team), 5 triples (1st on the team), and 5 homeruns (3rd on the team).  The steady stick has driven in 46 runs on the year, is slugging .552, and has a respectable on-base percentage of .441.  He has added to the offensive attack by swiping 12 bases on 14 attempts.

Taylor Eikenberry is a sophomore left-handed starter on the hill from Sterling, Illinois.  In 11 starts (tied for 2nd on the team) on the season and in 13 total appearances, the southpaw holds onto a 7-1 (tied for 2nd on the team in wins) record with a 2.51 ERA.  He has thrown 68.0 innings (2nd on the team), giving up 60 hits, 28 runs (19 earned) and 24 walks.  He leads the pitching staff with 82 strikeouts and teams are hitting .233 against him.

Levi Meyer is a freshman catcher from Wichita, Kansas.  Defensively, Meyer has thrown out 31% of runners trying to steal on him.  Bouncing around the middle of the Reivers lineup offensively, the freshman backstop has played in 41 games (37 started) and holds on to a .345 batting average (5th on the team) in 142 at bats.  He has crossed home plate 29 times, hit 9 doubles (third on the team), 1 triple, and 9 long balls (2nd on the team), while driving in 43 (tied for 3rd on the team) runs on the year.  His slugging percentage is .613 to go along with his on-base percentage of .374.
