Reivers are Headed to the DI National Tournament
For the sixth season in a row, the Iowa Western volleyball squad is heading to the Division I National Volleyball tournament. This past weekend Iowa Western played host to the District D volleyball playoff. In pool play on Saturday the Reivers swept Back Hawk East and Kaskasia college to advance to the finals on Sunday.
In the championship match the Reivers faced conference opponent Indian Hills for the third time this season. Although IW had swept the Warriors on two previous occaisions, the Reivers took nothing for granted. They came out focused and ready to face a strong and athletic Indian Hills team. Although the Warriors played well, the Reivers prevailed once again in three sets to capaput them into the National Tournament.
It is the sixth straight national tournament appearance for the team, and the third for three year head coach Darrin McBroom. The squad will depart Tuesday, November 15th for West Plains, Missouri...the site of this years tournament. Tournament play will begin on the 17th and run through the 19th. Pairings for the tournament are expected to be announced sometime Wednesday, November 9th.
