Reivers go 1-1 on First Day of Tournament

The Iowa Western Reivers opened up the national tournament with a win during the first round of tournament play. IW coming in as the #6 seed faced #11 Temple College at 9:00a.m. on Thursday. Despite the fact that Temple had a a very talented team, the Reivers we able to dispatch the Leopards in three straight sets. The Reivers controlled the first set winning 25-20, but looked to be in trouble in set two when they fell behind 11-19. However, during the course of two rotations they made a suprising late game surge and took the set 25-22. The went on to dominate the third 25-17. This match moved the Reivers into the Champsionship side of the bracket ensuring a strong finish than last year. In the second round however, it was the Reivers who came up short in a three game sweep. Iowa Western faced #3 Western Wyoming a team they had not seen this year. Although the Reivers put up a strong fight in the early part of the first set, they fell behind and lost 15-25. In the second, Iowa Western was still unable to find traction and lost 13-25. They pulled things together in the third but still fell a little short losing 22-25. The Reivers will now play at 2:30p.m. on Friday against College of Central Florida.
