Tomscha and Krietemeier Ranked in Perfect Game’s Top 100
On November 18, Perfect Game released its ranking of the top 100 Junior College baseball players for the upcoming 2012 season. Among the ranked were Iowa Western Reiver-Baseball players Damek Tomscha (3B/RHP) and Tanner Krietemeier (OF/RHP).
Tomscha makes the list ranked 18th overall, and Krietemeier is ranked at 39th.
Tomscha has middle of the line-up power, a solid glove at third base, and major league arm strength; all reasons why he is ranked as the 18th best JUCO player in the country. The Sioux City native has signed his National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Auburn for his junior year. As a freshman in 2011, he batted .377 for the Reivers while hitting 14 home runs and driving in 59 RBI’s. He has been taken in the MLB Amateur Draft on two occasions, most recently in the 2011 Draft when the Florida Marlins selected him in the 36th round. Tomscha is 4th ranked third baseman on the list, and the only player who played his high school baseball in the state of Iowa.
Tanner Krietemeier is a switch-hitting outfielder with above average speed and arm strength, making him the 39th ranked JUCO player according to Perfect Game. A native of Castle Rock, CO., Krietemeier began his collegiate playing career at the University of Nebraska. He comes to the Reivers as a player who can play every position in the outfield, and be in the middle of the order every day. The Oklahoma State commit is the 5th ranked outfielder, and will also see time on the mound for the Reivers in 2012.
Iowa Western is the only Junior College program in the Region or in the Northern District to have more than one player make Perfect Game’s Top 100.
