Another Successful Season for the Men's Soccer Team

Yet, another successful season for the men's soccer team!


Here are some of the highlights from the 2011 season:


*7th Place at the NJCAA National Tournament. After drawing 1-1 at the end of regulation and two overtime periods, the No. 4 seed Reivers lost in a dramatic penalty kick shootout to No. 5 seed Monroe College, 4-3. The Reivers would go on to lose the consolation match versus Pima CC, 1-0.
 

*NJCAA National Championship Sportsmanship Award. The Reivers received no yellow or red cards and carried themselves exceptionally well after a heart breaking quarterfinal match. This is the second consecutive year that the Reivers were chosen for this award because of their excellent display of sportsmanship at the National Championships.
 

*Dayvin Palmer (Freshman, No. 4) was nominated to the NJCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team. Palmer becomes the first Reiver to earn this honor. Palmer was the lone goal scorer for the Reivers in the tournament and the leading goal scorer on the season with 13 goals.
 

*Ignacio Mateos (Sophomore, No. 10) became the single season and career leader for assists with 15 and 21 assists. He also led the team in points with 33 points.
 

*Tony Olvera (Sophomore, No. 0) broke two records. He broke the career shutout and minutes played records, 14 shutouts and 3,185 minutes.
 

*The Reivers broke the team record for most wins in a season with 18 and the fewest losses in a season with 3. They also broke the record for most consecutive games without a loss, 15 games.
 

*The Reivers set a new program record for being ranked in the Top 10 of every NJCAA Polls in a single season. They also achieved the program's first No. 3 ranking. The Reivers have been in the NJCAA Polls since October 27, 2010.

 

*All-Region XI Honors:

First Team: Marco Santana de Carvalho, Ignacio Mateos, Dayvin Palmer, Jaden Hoth, Tony Banos (GK)
 

Second Team: Renato Dos Anjos, Beau Johnson, Everardo Lemus, Pedro Vianna


Honorable Mention: Bruno Micci, Marcelo Norton
