FORMER REIVER EARNS MULTIPLE HONORS AT THE UNIV OF IOWA
The University of Iowa Football Banquet was held Dec. 17 at the Marriott in Coralville.
Joe Audlehelm of Van Wert, IA (Central Decatur HS) received the Team Leader Award for both offense and special teams. The Team Leader Award is presented to student-athletes from the offense, defense, and special teams who have excelled at helping prepare their teammates for Saturday’s opponents. Audlehelm has won the Team Leader Award for special teams the past two seasons.
Joe also received the Players’ Choice Award for Offense. The Players’ Choice Award honors two student-athletes representing the offense and defense. The recipients are selected by their teammates for demonstrating consistent effort, preparation, attention to detail, sacrifice, and readiness which have become the fundamental characteristics of Iowa football. The recipient is a leader regardless of being a starter or reserve and inspires his teammates to adopt these values.
Audlehelm played for coach Strohmeier at North Iowa Area Community College in 2008. Audlehelm followed coach Strohmeier to Iowa Western in 2009 and participated in spring drills prior to transferring to the University of Iowa. Audlehelm is Iowa Western’s first ever Division-1 transfer
