Sophomore Day a Proven Success
Sophomore Day at Iowa Western Community College was a success as the Reivers swept Highland Community College, ending HCC's 21-game win streak. In game one, Iowa Western Community College beat Highland Community College 6-1 in seven innings behind Jena Gonzales, who had three RBIs. She singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning. Sophomore Greta Smeins struck out 12, paving the way for a Reiver win.
Game two proved a bit more eventful, as Sophomore Kylee Polsley toed the rubber, earning a second win of the day for the Reivers. Polsley struck out 4, allowing only one earned run for the 3-2 victory. Daleigh Fossler went 2 for 3 with a 2-RBI double. Canova went 2-3 at the plate, as well, earning 3 solid singles for the game.
