John Penn enters his second season with the Reiver Baseball Program. His duties include working with the catchers and hitters as well as assisting with recruiting. His responsibilities also include coaching third base on game day, coordinating travel plans, assisting with camps, and assisting with the Grey Squad Program.
Penn spent his first 2 seasons coaching at Bluffton University, a NCAA Division III university located in Bluffton, OH where he served as the Graduate Assistant. His responsibilities included handling the pitching staff and catchers, he served as the Recruiting Coordinator, assisted with Fundraising, camps, and day to day field maintenance. In his 2 seasons at Bluffton, he coached 4 Honorable Mention All-Conference pitchers while helping the Beavers set a record for wins in a season.
A native of Chillicothe, OH, Penn graduated from Zane Trace High School in 2010 where he competed in four sports. Upon graduation, Penn attended Wabash College where he served as a relief pitcher throughout his career and was a member on the 2011 NCAC Conference Championship team, the only one is school history. He graduated from Wabash with a Bachelor’s Degree in Rhetoric and went on to obtain his Master’s Degree in Business Administration with a Sports Management concentration from Bluffton University.
John is the son of Larry and Nita Penn, and has one brother, Seth and resides in Council Bluffs, IA.
