Reivers Welcome Home Estrada and Trent, Two Added to Men's Soccer Staff

The Reivers have announced the hiring of two new assistant coaches in Alex Trent and Humberto Estrada. Both players are former alumni of the program and were recruited by Coach Brown during his time as an assistant at Iowa Western. Coach Brown had this to say on the two new additions, "We are extremely excited to have two former alumni coming back to serve the program. Both Humberto and Alex will be great mentors for our student-athletes and I am confident that they will help us take the program to the next step! Each of them understands what it means to be a part of this program and the responsibilities that come with it. They have already hit the ground running and we are excited to have them back on campus in the Reiver family!"

Coach Estrada comes to the Reivers from Coffeyville Community College where he served as an assistant coach on both the Men's and Women's programs. Before joining Coffeyville in January 2019, Coach Estrada served on Coach Brown's staff at Barton Community College as a volunteer goalkeeping assistant from 2017-2018. During that time he was responsible the development and tutelage of Barton goalkeeper Felipe Baeza who was a 2018 NSCAA 2nd Team All American and NSCAA 1st Team Academic All American. Baeza finished tied for third in the nation with a 0.54 goals-against average in 2018. Estrada also coordinated all travel functions for Coach Brown and Barton during their playoff run. Coach Estrada played for the Reivers in 2012 before heading to Mount Marty College from 2013-2015. In August of 2015 he transferred to the University of Southwest where he completed his degrees in May 2017 acquiring majors in a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. Estrada was a goalkeeper at both Mount Marty and University of the Southwest. Estrada was also a two time NAIA Academic All-American. He currently holds a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level 2 Diploma. Coach Estrada had this to say about returning to Iowa Western, "It feels good to be back at the place where I started. I'm looking forward to helping make Iowa Western Men's Soccer a powerhouse program once again!"

Coach Trent enters his first season as a coach with the Reivers. Trent will be joining Coach Paye as a Room and Board Assistant Coach. Coach Trent played at Iowa Western in 2014 and 2015 under former head coach, Jordan Carver. As a student-athlete and presidential scholar at Iowa Western, Trent finished with a 40-2-6 record along with 3rd and 5th place finishes at the NJCAA national tournament. in 2016, Trent transferred to Ottawa University, where he would go on to become captain and a KCAC All-Conference performer. He spent time in the USL League Two and went on several professional trials, but repeated injuries and surgeries over his collegiate career have put his playing career on hold. Trent was also named an academic All-American at both IWCC and Ottawa and went on to receive various academic honors. Coach Trent has spent the past three years coaching at Sporting Kaw Valley soccer club in Lawrence, Kansas, as well as interning and growing in the field of sports performance. He is currently working on a master's degree of science in health and human performance, the NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist certification, and the USSF "D" Coaching License. Coach Trent had this to say about joining the Reivers, "Iowa Western has always been home for me. I'm thankful for this opportunity to rejoin the program and again be part of the culture of excellence that is the Iowa Western Men's Soccer program."

Both Coach Estrada and Coach Trent officially started their duties on July 1.
