Reivers Shatter Previous Academic Mark, Add 120 Student-Athletes to Growing Total
COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA
Another record-setting year in the classroom for Iowa Western's student-athletes has shattered last year's previous high mark, in both GPA and NJCAA All-Academic team members. Collectively, the Reivers posted a 3.16 cumulative GPA as a department as 120 student-athletes earned their way onto the NJCAA All-Academic list, surpassing the previous high watermark of 87, set last year by the school.
Reivers Softball led the way for all IWCC squads, posting an NJCAA softball team-high of 3.72 in the GPA department, while Women's Golf and Volleyball posted 3.64 and 3.62 marks respectively. Men's Soccer and Baseball racked up 3.49 GPAs to lead the Reivers on the men's side.
The total number of NJCAA All-Academic performers has risen dramatically in the last three years, with Iowa Western claiming the de facto NJCAA Academic National Championship in 2017-18, 2018-19, and this past year. The all-time total number for the Reivers now stands at 586 student-athletes that have received the NJCAA honor.
The Reivers also collected 356 ICCAC Academic All-Region nods, including 166 during the spring semester.
The Reivers wrap up the 2019-20 academic calendar July 24th with a virtual commencement ceremony that can be seen on the Iowa Western Television website at www.IowaWesternTV.com, bringing the total number of 2019-20 graduates to 157.
