Alicia Williams Named NJCAA Volleyball Coach of the Year
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Iowa Western Volleyball Head Coach Alicia Williams was announced today as the 2021 NJCAA Div. I Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Coach Williams led her squad to a 33-4 record this season and defeated New Mexico Military Institute in five sets to claim the program's second national championship this calendar year. The Reivers won the 2020-21 national title on April, 17th 2021 during the covid-19 delayed spring athletic season. A 3-1 defeat of Snow College gave Iowa Western their first national title since 2006.
Coach Williams now joins Head Baseball Coach Marc Rardin as the only Iowa Western head coaches to win multiple team national championships during their tenure at IW. Volleyball becomes the first program at Iowa Western to win their titles back-to-back.
In her ninth season at the helm of the program, Coach Williams has compiled a record of 335-44 with nine straight Region XI titles and eight District championships. Iowa Western has earned a berth at the NJCAA national tournament every year since 2006 and this is the 19th season out of the last 22 that the team has recorded 30 or more victories.
