Iowa Western Announces 2026 Hall of Fame Inductees
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa - Ron Boone, Dr. John & Jean Marshall, and the 2012-13 men's basketball team have been announced as the newest members of the Iowa Western Athletics Hall of Fame. The 2026 class was chosen by the Reivers Hall of Fame Committee and will be officially inducted at the October 2nd banquet in the Iowa Western Student Center. The event will begin at 6:30 pm, and tickets are $25. The inductees will also be recognized the following day at the Reivers' home football game versus Garden City CC.

Ron Boone, Men's Basketball - Before Iowa Western was the Reivers, they were known as the Blue Jays and played out of the Clarinda campus. Ron Boone spent the 1964-65 season with the Clarinda Blue Jays, where he averaged 26 points per game. A 1963 graduate of Omaha Technical High School, Boone would move on to Idaho State University for three seasons and averaged 20 points and 5.4 rebounds in 61 games. Boone was named First Team All-Big Sky in 1967 and 1968.
In 1968, Boone was selected in both the ABA and NBA drafts, opting to play for the Dallas Chaparrals in the American Basketball Association. From 1968 to 1981, Boone earned four ABA All-Star selections and was named to the All-ABA First Team in 1974. A 1971 ABA Champion with the Utah Stars, Boone scored 17,437 points, recorded 4,348 rebounds, and 823 steals across 11 ABA seasons with the Chaparells, Stars, Spirits of St. Louis, and the Kansas City Kings, and two NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Lakers and Utah Jazz. An Ironman of basketball, Boone set the record for consecutive games played with 1,041 straight, having never missed a single game of his 13-year professional career. Boone finished third on the all-time ABA scoring list with 12,153 points and 6th all-time in ABA assists with 2,569.
2012-13 Men's Basketball Team - Under Iowa Western Hall of Fame coach Jim Morris, the 2012-13 men's basketball team put together the best season in Reiver basketball history. IWCC rattled off a school-record 20 consecutive wins to start the year and earned the No. 1 seed at the NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball Tournament with a win over Williston State College in the district title game. The team would reach the quarterfinals before falling to Northwest Florida State College, finishing with a record of 32-3. Nine players from the squad would go on to NCAA Division I careers, including Devin Brooks (Creighton), Darien Williams (St. John's), Dinjiyl Walker (Oklahoma), and Ty Haughton (Pittsburgh).
Dr. John & Jean Marshall - Long-time supporters Dr. John & Jean Marshall have committed nearly three decades to advancing Iowa Western Athletics through their exceptional leadership and generosity. The Marshalls' commitment to athletics was demonstrated in two transformational projects on campus. In 2017, they helped finance the Dr. John & Jean Marshall Wellness Center, providing students with a dedicated space for health and wellness. They further expanded their legacy in 2021 with the opening of the Marshall Softball/Baseball Complex, giving Reiver softball and baseball student-athletes a premier facility to practice and compete.
In addition to athletics, the Marshalls have dedicated their time and resources to hosting the Black Tie Patio Party for the past 27 years and have annually supported the Black Tie Harvest for Scholarships event, chairing the gala in 2001. An Iowa Western Board of Trustees member since 2019, Marshall's dedication has been recognized through numerous honors, including the Black Tie Chairman's Volunteer Award in 2002, the Black Tie Chairman's Donor Award in 2010, and the prestigious Black Tie Investment in Excellence Award in 2011.
