Nine Reivers Make Qualifying Marks in Season Opener
Crete, Neb. - The Men's and Women's squads opened up the 2025 track and field season with a strong showing. The Scott Nisely Memorial Classic Track and Field Meet at Doane University.
On the Women's side, Serena Grace won the 60m dash in 7.55 to post the #1 time in the NJCAA this season. Sarai Simpson was 2nd in the shot put in 14.29m and Chin- Loy Raymond 3rd in 14.27m. Simpson doubled back to place 4th in the weight throw in 15.16m to move to #6 in school history. Both Simpson's marks are national leaders.
On the Mens side, The Reivers were led by Yekini Bowen who won the shot put in 16.02m and placed 2nd in the weight throw with a 18.30m for #2 in school history. Nikkolai Kennedy led a trio of 60m hurdlers, winning the event in 8.02. Jesse Malone was 2nd in 8.09 and Vincent Kelly 6th in 8.71. In the prelim Malone clocked a 8.05 for the #6 mark in school history. Wallace Aflamah won the men's 60m in a 1-2-3 sweep. Aflamah clocked 6.80, Tatum Fox 6.89 2nd and Gabe Cheyee 3rd in 6.89. Landon Hartley was the 1 mile champion in 4:43.85.
Next up the squad will split next Friday when they head to The University of Nebraska Graduate Classic and Saturday to the University of Kansas State Thane Baker meet.
