Iowa Western Hires Zach Loll to Lead Women's Basketball Program
Council Bluffs, Iowa – Iowa Western Athletics announced today that Zach Loll has been named its 9th head coach of the women's basketball program.
"We are excited to add Coach Loll to our coaching staff," said Iowa Western President Dr. Dan Kinney. "Coach Loll has many years of experience and success that will take the Reiver Women's Basketball program to the next level. We are glad to welcome the Lolls to the Reiver Family."
"I am excited to join the Iowa Western Family," said Coach Loll. "I want to thank Dr. Kinney and Shane Larson for the opportunity to lead the women's basketball program at Iowa Western. I look forward to meeting everyone and continuing the tradition at IWCC."
Coach Loll comes to Council Bluffs after spending the previous three seasons as the Head Women's Basketball Coach at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois. Before his time with the Statesmen, Coach Loll led the Conquistadors of Dodge City Community College for five seasons where he rebuilt the culture at DCCC, going from a 4-win team to double-digit victories in each of the next three years.
"Zach is an outstanding coach and an even better person," said Iowa Western Athletic Director Shane Larson. "I have known Coach Loll for many years having coached against each other at rival schools in Illinois years ago. From that rivalry, I learned quite a bit about his coaching style and the type of program he can build. I am looking forward to watching someone with his level of experience guide our women's basketball program."
Prior to his time in Dodge City, Coach Loll spent seven seasons at the helm of the women's basketball program at Wabash Valley Community College. He led the Warriors to a 146-70 record, winning four Great Rivers Athletic Conference titles, a Region 24 championship, and a berth in the NJCAA National Tournament in 2015. Loll also served as Athletic Director during his final three years in Mt. Carmel, Illinois.
Before Wabash Valley, Coach Loll was the women's head coach at Kaskaskia College in Centralia, Illinois from 2001-09. In his final year at Kaskaskia, he led the Blue Devils to a 26-9 record and a 4th-place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament, while being named both the Region 24 and GRAC Coach of the Year that season.
Coach Loll and his wife, Andrea, have twin sons Blain and Cooper.
