Reiver Women Win the Midwest District Championship
The Reiver Women took home the Midwest District Championship played at Lake Mazingo Golf Course in Maryville, MO.
Led by Sophomore Rylin Davidson who shot a career low of 72, The Ladies got out to a 19-stroke lead over Indian Hills on Day 1 and never looked back. Davidson fired 3 birdies in the opening round to help set the pace for the team. With rounds of 81 from Beatriz Pinheiro and rounds of 82 from Lauren Brown and Jennifer Cho it was a well-rounded performance from the team.
Day 2 saw the same results. Extending the lead by another 19 strokes to an overall win of 38 strokes for the victory. Cho led the way with 77 with Davidson right behind with a 79, Pinheiro and Brown each carded an 80 & 81 respectfully.
Davidson District Championship came with an 8 stroke victory over Runner up Cho. Pineiro finished 3rd and Brown 4th. Freshman Olivia Holyoak-Church who was a big part of this year's team success finished in 6th place.
"This was a good outing for the team," said Head Coach Matt Robinson. "To have all 5 players all within a few strokes of each other was good to see. And sweeping the top 4 spots over a really good Indian Hills team will give the girls confidence heading to the Nationals."
The women will conclude their season at the National Championships played at Buffalo Dunes in Garden City, KS May 12-15th.
