Bio
Brayden Curry begins his first season as the head men's wrestling coach for 2025-26.
Prior to Iowa Western, Coach Curry spent two seasons as the Head Wrestling Coach and one season as the Assistant Coach at Minnesota West Community and Technical College, where he qualified five wrestlers for the NJCAA National Wrestling Tournament and coached one NJCAA All-American. During his tenure, Curry fielded the largest wrestling roster in Bluejay history and won the program's first dual in over ten years. Coach Curry helped elevate Minnesota West from the bottom of the NJCAA rankings to being a Top 25 program in just two seasons at the program's helm.
A standout wrestler from Sergeant Bluff, IA, Curry was a 4-time State placer and 2-time State finalist in Iowa, wrestling to a record of 54-6 during his senior season while finishing third at State that year. A four-time MRAC Champion, four-time District Champion, four-time Iowa National Team member, and two-time Iowa State Finalist, Curry was named the 2017 Siouxland Athlete of the Year and was a USA Preseason Nationals All-American. Additionally, Curry was a two-time Greco-Roman State Finalist and a Greco-Roman State Champion while being a two-time Fargo Nationals Qualifier and Freestyle State Finalist. Curry racked up an impressive 183-11 career record at Sergeant Bluff-Luton High School.
Curry then moved on to Augustana University, where he competed at 133 lbs and 141 lbs for the Vikings and was a four-time Varsity Letter winner. The 2018 Freshman of the Year recipient, Curry, earned Principal Financial Athlete of the Week honors and was the Strength & Conditioning Athlete of the Month.
Coach Curry earned his B.A. in All-Grades Education and Physical Education with a Minor in Coaching from Augustana University and will complete his M.S. in Sport Administration through Arkansas State University this Summer. He and his wife, Hope, are the proud parents of Miles and reside in the Council Bluffs area.
