Iowa Western Women Win Program of the Year Honors

NEW ORLEANS - For the first time in school history, Iowa Western Women's Cross Country/Track and Field is named Dr. Donald Cox Women's NJCAA Program of the Year. Dr. Cox spent over 30 years as a coach at the NJCAA level, served as president of the NJCAA Cross Country Coaches Association, and was the association representative for the USTFCCCA for 8 years.

 

Iowa Western women finished the Cross Country season in 2nd place with top 20 performances by Juliana Sakat, Elizabeth Ewusie, Hafssa Boutrich, and Wijdane Inzaline.The Reivers followed up the Indoor season to win the National Championship on the strength of 29 All Americans to win the 5th championship in 6 years.

 

In the Outdoor season the women's team narrowly lost in dramatic fashion as the meet came down to the 4x4 relay. The Reivers lost by 0.50 of a point achieving 29 All Americans in the outdoor season as well.

The women's program joins the 2024 Men's Program for program of the Year honors, and that was also the first Program of the Year for the Men.
