Reivers Sign Chilean National Team Attacker

COUNCIL BLUFFS, IA

Maike Bertens, a 6' right-side hitter from Santiago, Chile will join the 2020 Reivers Volleyball squad.

A member of the Chilean National Team since 2015, Maike has played in multiple Pan-American and South American Cups, facing tough competition playing against top athletes from around the world.

In addition to her National Team participation, the six-footer keeps herself busy playing high school and club volleyball.  She attended a German High School (Colegio Aleman) that competes at a high level all over the world, including Italy and the Czech Republic.

Maike helped her team win 13 tournament and league championships in the course of her four seasons of play, earning MVP, All-Region, and National recognition along the way.

Maike is an outstanding player that will bring experience and competitiveness to Reiver Arena. 

The daughter of Katja Deckart and Alfredo Bertens, Maike has one sibling, a sister named Alina.
