Women's Cross Country Wins Conference Title
FORT DODGE, Iowa - for just the third time in program history, Iowa Western Women's Cross Country won the ICCAC Region 11 Championship.
The Reivers dominated the field, defeating second-place Indian Hills by 21 points and nearly doubling up third-place Iowa Central.
IWCC was led by the top distance runner in the nation, Juliana Sakat, who earlier in the season broke the school record with a time of 16:40.00 at the FHSU Open. Sakat finished with a time of 17:28.20, a 1:03.2 mark faster than second-place finisher Hafsa Oukadou of Iowa Central.
All six runners for the Reivers finished inside the top 11. Elizabeth Ewusie (3rd), Hafssa Boutrich (4th), Mya Curtis (9th), Norah Sjerven (10th), and Alyssa Kulesa (11th) all earned All-Conference honors.
The team will head back to Lakeside Municipal Golf Course on November 8th for the NJCAA National Championships starting at 10:00 am.
